IMPORTANT INFO – Overflying during Italian strike 14/01/20

Italian strike Tues 14th Jan 2020 – 1200-1600 UTC :

In addition to the current procedures regarding an Italian ATC industrial action, please note that for this particular strike, ENAV will NOT accept overflying traffic between 1200 and 1600 UTC.

AOs are expected to flight plan routes around Italian airspace during this period.

Flights originating from outside of the ECAC area are included in this restriction. Although these flights will not be subject to ATFM regulations, and will not be affected by French strike measures, they will have to adhere to the Italian requirement.

  • Overflights which enter Italian airspace before the start of the Italian strike will continue to receive a service, regardless of their exit time from Italian airspace.
  • Overflights which are planned to enter Italian airspace before the start of the Italian strike, but for reason of winds or direct routeings arrive just after 1200 UTC, will continue to receive a service from Italian ATC.
  • Overflights originating within the ECAC area, which are planned to enter Italian airspace before the start of the Italian strike, but which are delayed into the Italian strike period due to French strike restrictions, will NOT be permitted to overfly Italy.

Regardless of FPL times, if an overflight arrives at the border of Italian airspace well within the Italian strike period, it must anticipate to re-route around Italian airspace or to hold in neighbouring airspace. AOs should therefore ensure that adequate fuel is loaded for such an event.
