International Flight Planning Services for ABACE 2020

Whether you are seeking help with route analysis, assistance with landing and overflight permits or runway analysis for Asian Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition (ABACE) 2020, Flightworx can help. The leading aviation trade show in Asia, ABACE 2020 will return to Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport from 16th April for three days in the most populous city in the entire country.

Over the course of the last eight years, since ABACE was conceived, it has grown substantially. Well in excess of 8,000 aviation professionals from around 50 or so different countries will attend the 2020 event. At past shows, 165 exhibitors have participated. Due to the 35 business aircraft that will be on static display, there is likely to be a substantial number of attendees drawn from the world’s media, too.

As well as attracting some of the biggest names in the aviation industry, including commercial airliner purchasers, previous ABACE shows have drawn in many high-level businesspeople from other sectors. As such, anyone planning to fly to ABACE 2020 is likely to be in competition for slot requests and aviation ground handling services when they arrive.

This is where the expertise offered by the team at Flightworx can be so advantageous, especially when there are often language barriers to take into consideration. What should you be thinking about when it comes to ABACE 2020?

Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport

A thoroughly modern facility, Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (ZSSS/SHA) is the obvious choice for anyone planning on attending ABACE 2020 or planning flights there for their client. Handling over a quarter of a million air movements per year, Shanghai Airport is not only the host airport of the show, but it offers plenty of private jet parking and other aircraft ground handling services.

That said, during ABACE 2020, accessing its undoubted benefits is not as straightforward as at other times of the year. There are alternatives, you could opt for, however.

Aviation Planning For ABACE 2020 Via Other Airports

Shanghai Pudong International Airport (ZSPD/PVG) is a useful alternative which can be used during the event. However, it is an even busier airport than Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, accounting for in excess of 70 million passengers per year. That said, it is easy to get to ABACE from Shanghai Pudong via the city’s Metro system on line 2. Onward travel arrangements can be arranged by our in-house travel agency, Travelworx, if required. It is about 45 minutes from one airport to the other by road in good traffic conditions.

Officially serving the city of Suzhou, Sunan Shuofang International Airport (ZSWX/WUX) is often used by international trip support companies with knowledge of China because it is much less busy than the two main airports in Shanghai – and this is certainly the case during ABACE. As this airport is not an airport of entry and handling isn’t mandatory here, the available services on the ground are limited, so we recommend using this airfield for repositioning only. You could expect to reach the show in about 90 minutes by road from here.

Located to the south west of Shanghai, Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport (ZSNB/NGB is another suitable option for ABACE 2020. With onward travel to the show by road taking approximately two hours from this airport it might be beneficial to drop your passengers off in Shanghai before repositioning here.
